Co-financed PhD Fellowships

Currently, Novo Nordisk co-finances around 70 PhD students and has co-financed more than 150 fellows since 1998. Some of these are Industrial PhD fellows and some are linked to PhD schools at Danish universities.

Your opportunity

  • We contribute with part of your salary as a PhD student
  • Novo Nordisk and the university jointly define the project
  • Industrial PhD fellows typically spend about 50% of the time at Novo Nordisk.

Basic conditions

  • To apply for a co-financed fellowship, you must contact a Novo Nordisk scientist who files the application
  • Fellows under the Industrial PhD programme can be of any nationality. The university must be officially authorised in the country in question to conduct PhD programmes. If the host university is foreign, a Danish university must be attached to the Industrial PhD project as a third party
  • Other PhD fellowships must be linked to a PhD school at a Danish university.

Required academic credentials

  • Hold a Master degree
  • For Industrial PhD fellowships:
    - Weighted grade point average of 8.2 on the Danish grade scale
    (9 on the old scale) for bachelor and master degrees
    - Grade point of 10 on the Danish grade scale (10 on old scale) for
    the master thesis.
